Pre-Japan 2013

I will be flying to Japan in less than 10 hours!

I’m extremely excited for yet another chance to experience the lovely Japanese way of life yet equally nervous because I won’t be going with my family! D: So basically I am going to Niigata and Tokyo with 3 other girls (all Sec 4s!) and 2 boys (Sec 1 and 3). We’ve only met twice before at the programme briefings so we aren’t super duper close yet!

In Niigata, we will be visiting schools, learning to cook/make stuff, sight-seeing and skating! I’m really excited for the skating part (even though I can’t skate) because it will probably (fingers crossed) be snowing! ❅☃❅

We will also have a homestay for two days and a night. I’m quite worried for this part because I’m afraid I won’t be able to communicate well with the Japanese family, but oh well it should be a fun experience! ^_^

After going to Niigata, we will go to Tokyo! There we will meet students from other countries who are also participating in this programme and do some sight-seeing (I think).

In Tokyo (or in Niigata if I can), I really really hope to find a Rilakkuma store teeheehee 😀 I will spazzzzz so much if I get to go to a Rila store (*^_^*)

ImageThis will be my victory dance outside/inside the store 😀

I also really want to find a 100 Yen store, specifically Seria and Daiso 😀 According to the numerous YouTube videos I have watched, Seria sells more hobby stuff, like baking utensils and ART MATERIALS for only 100 Yen (around SGD 1+ if I’m not wrong).

AND I would like to go to any supermarket to check out all the cool food and possibly DIY candy kits (like Popin Cookin hehehe).

So in preparation for the trip, I specially made some Singapore-themed resin keychains and magnets to give to the Japanese students I meet!

Since I couldn’t find any Singapore-themed stickers at the souvenir shops, I printed out small pictures and “laminated” them with tape! Some crafters on YouTube don’t like this method because they say it leaves a shiny border around the image, but that didn’t happen to my pieces so yay for that 🙂

ImageSecond favourite piece!

ImageI got this Merlion snow globe at Lucky Plaza and I think it is really pretty and super detailed! I wish I could make it with clay!

ImageThe back of the snow globe! There was a pink one with the same design, but I thought this dark blue one was nicer.

ImageLastly, I got a magnet which just shows some iconic places/buildings here 🙂 I will probably be giving the magnet and snow globe to my host family! (I need to find a pretty paper bag heheheh.)

I will write about my whole trip when I get back on the 29th of November! 🙂

P.S. I won’t have access to Wifi for the majority of my trip so no Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or Whatsapp for me D”:
